I've noticed how teachers get excited about visiting schools and seeing how "the competence" is doing; what others are doing. I've had the opportunity not only to visit other schools but also to work on them. Having experienced different learning and teaching styles, educational curriculums, professional development in diverse pedagogical methodologies, wide-school character programs, schedules, community engagement, assessments, and exploring scopes and sequence documents has trained me to identify areas of improvement quickly. I can compare and contrast programs, analyze aspects that make sense for teachers, not only administrators, and propose objective and doable solutions. There is always something we can do better, such as adapting to the new times, using research-based evidence, and using each strength that faculty and staff bring to the school community.
The next step in my career is to teach adults, lead dual language programs, and become a consultant in this area. I know this subject from experience, from being a bilingual student to teaching it in most elementary and middle grades and being a life-long learner.
